How do I fit my Instant Custom-Fit mouthguard?Updated 4 hours ago
Check your protection level first
Instant Custom-Fit mouthguards need different times in hot water, depending on the protection level. You’ll find yours on the packaging.
| Protection level | Time in hot water |
|---|---|
| Standard | 30 seconds |
| Ultimate | 45 seconds |
| Enhanced | 60 seconds |
These times apply to Adult, Youth and Braces mouthguards. Don’t leave your mouthguard in the water for longer than the time shown, as this can damage it.
Step 1: get ready
Fill a ceramic bowl with freshly boiled water, have your timer ready and put a mug of cold water within easy reach.
Adult mouthguards: your Impression Tray comes in two parts. Fit the black tray inside the white handle before you start.
Step 2: heat your mouthguard
Place your mouthguard in the hot water and start your timer, using the time for your protection level.
Step 3: remove and cool slightly
Use a spoon to lift your mouthguard out of the water. Turn it upside down to drain it, then shake it for up to 10 seconds to cool it slightly. It will be hot, so take care.
Step 4: fit your mouthguard
Place your mouthguard centrally in the Impression Tray. Holding the handle, put it in your mouth and position it centrally over your teeth. Bite down firmly for 30 to 60 seconds, keeping even pressure across your teeth. Bite firmly, but not so hard that it hurts.
Step 5: set your mouthguard
Take the mouthguard and Impression Tray out of your mouth and put the mouthguard in cold water for 30 seconds. If it’s stuck to the tray, you can put them in the water together.
Step 6: let it settle
For best results, put your mouthguard in the fridge for 15 minutes, or leave it at room temperature for an hour, before wearing it.
